Skaters in Prudhoe have enjoyed Highfield Skate Park for many years. But soon it will be time for a new era for the skating community in Northumberland. Thanks to CANVAS spaces and Prudhoe Town Council, in summer of 2021,  a brand new concrete skate park will be built.

During lockdown 1, I was unable to skate as it was advised that it wasn’t safe to do so.            I therefore decided to turn my hobby into something expressive and fun. Many people talk about how we have learned a new skill during lockdown, so this is mine, and this is for you; the ability to make anything you want, and really enjoy it. My background is in photography, but we should all be open to trying new processes. By challenging ourselves, we learn.

When I hydro-dipped my very first skateboard deck, I brought it back to life and now can be enjoyed as display or a practice board for someone else to get into skating just as I did when I started.

This work is a reminder for you that it’s never to late to try something new, pick up a board, better skate than never.
